Microsoft Inlight IT

Give Microsoft 365 Copilot 30 days to prove itself.

Microsoft is currently offering businesses a free 30-day Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial for 25 users, with no Copilot licence cost during the trial.

Inlight IT helps you choose a useful pilot group, get people using Copilot in real work and work out what is worth continuing when the trial ends.

You do not need to commit to a rollout first. The point is to try it properly and make the decision from what happens in your own business.

Why a trial

A demo can show you what Copilot can do. It cannot tell you whether it is useful in your business.

Copilot looks impressive in a demonstration. The harder questions come afterwards.

Will people actually use it once the novelty wears off? Which roles get something useful from it? Does it save time on work that matters? Does a useful Copilot task expose a bigger process problem around it?

The 30-day trial gives you enough time to start answering those questions with your own people, documents, meetings and day-to-day work.

Thirty days will not tell you everything. But it will tell you far more than a demo about where Copilot fits in your business.

Pilot builder

Build your 30-day Copilot pilot

You do not need to know exactly where Copilot will be useful before you start. That is one of the things the trial is there to find out.

Choose the teams and types of work you would like to test. We will show you one way to structure the 25-user pilot and what would be worth watching during the month.

Your pilot

Who would you like to include?

Choose the teams where you think Copilot has a fair chance to be useful. You can select more than one.

Pick the work that takes time today or where you are curious to see whether Copilot can help.

We have suggested a starting mix based on the teams you selected. Adjust it to suit your business, or leave it as it is and carry on.

All 25 trial places allocated.

Based on the teams and work you selected, these are the areas we would put to the test first.

Look beyond the individual task

If Copilot improves the meeting, but somebody still has to update the CRM, create the tasks and chase the follow-ups, the bigger opportunity may sit in the process around it.

How it works

Microsoft provides the trial. Inlight IT helps you make the most of it.

Microsoft

Microsoft provides the trial

A 25-user Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial for 30 days at no Copilot licence cost.

Microsoft also provides the Copilot Success Planner, which builds your team a personalised 30-day plan before the trial starts, and Work Smarter in 30, the four-week programme that runs during it: a weekly email series, an admin setup guide, a trial guide for your people and a Teams channel guide.

The four weeks move through everyday Microsoft 365 work. Outlook first, then meetings, then Word, Excel and PowerPoint, then automating repetitive work with agents. Usage reporting sits in your own admin centre throughout.

Inlight IT

Inlight IT helps you make the most of it

We help you choose the people who will give the trial a fair test, and get the pilot moving without turning it into a large consulting project.

We keep the month focused on useful work rather than random prompting, and stay close enough to see what is landing.

At the end, we look at what people actually used, where it helped, where it did not and what should happen next. And if the trial exposes one recurring piece of work that goes beyond Copilot, we look at that too.

The month

What the 30 days look like

Before you start

Choose the right group

Not the 25 most senior people, and not one from every department. We pick people who live in email, meetings and documents, and agree an internal sponsor.

Week 1

Everyday work in Outlook

Where people can start without changing how they work. Catching up on conversations, drafting, working through information.

Week 2

Meetings and collaboration

Preparation, summaries, decisions and actions in Teams. By now it is clear who is finding real uses for it.

Week 3

Documents and analysis

Word, Excel and PowerPoint on material people already work with. Also where we start asking what stays manual around the task.

Week 4

Beyond individual prompts

The Success Planner moves into agents. We look at the hand-offs the month exposed and whether any are worth automating.

Where it gets interesting

Sometimes Copilot solves the task. The interesting part is what happens next.

Take a customer meeting. Copilot can help prepare for it and summarise it afterwards. But somebody may still need to create the tasks, update the CRM, send the follow-up and report on progress.

If those hand-offs are still manual, the opportunity may be bigger than Copilot alone. That is something Inlight IT looks for during the trial.

If people are still copying information between systems, creating tasks and chasing follow-ups, that may be where the bigger opportunity sits.
Day 30

Now you know what to do next.

We review what happened before the trial finishes, so the decision is made while the evidence is fresh. There are four sensible outcomes.

Keep it

Continue with the people and use cases that proved useful.

Try it elsewhere

There may be another team or role worth testing before making a broader decision.

Take something further

If the month uncovered a recurring process that goes beyond Copilot, look at whether an agent or workflow would make sense.

Stop

If the evidence is not there, do not continue simply because the trial happened. A useful trial can still end with not yet.

We will base that decision on what people actually used, what proved useful and whether the month uncovered anything worth taking further.

Your environment

What about our Microsoft 365 data?

Copilot works within the Microsoft 365 access your users already have. If we see something in your environment that should be addressed before you expand the rollout, we will flag it.

Get started

Ready to try Copilot for 30 days?

Send us your details and we will take it from there. We normally respond within one business day.

If you have built a pilot above, it comes with you, so there is nothing to fill in twice.

Microsoft offer currently available until 31 December 2026. Microsoft offer terms apply.

There is no obligation to proceed, and we will let you know if the Microsoft offer is not the right fit for your business.

Thanks. We will be in touch shortly.

You should hear from us within one business day.

From there the next step is simple. We confirm the pilot group, work through the Microsoft setup and Success Planner, and agree when the 30 days should start.

If the Microsoft offer is not the right one for your business, we will explain the alternatives rather than pushing you into the wrong program.

Questions

Questions we get asked

What exactly is Copilot in 30?

Copilot in 30 is a Microsoft 30-day Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial, provided through Microsoft partners. The current offer gives you 25 trial places for 30 days at no Copilot licence cost.

Who is the current Microsoft offer for?

Microsoft's current Copilot in 30 offer is for businesses on Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard or Business Premium, with up to 300 seats per tenant. It does not apply to education, nonprofit or government community cloud plans.

If you are not sure whether it applies to you, just get in touch and we will sort that out.

What happens after 30 days?

Before the trial ends, we work out who should continue and who should not.

The Microsoft trial is set to renew to paid licences unless the renewal setting is changed. We set that up when the trial is created rather than leaving it to the last week, and we revisit it with you before Day 30. The number that continues is up to you, and it does not have to be 25.

Is the Copilot licence really free for the 30 days?

Microsoft currently prices the Copilot in 30 trial licence at $0 for its 30-day term. Your existing Microsoft 365 licensing continues separately.

Is anything in the trial chargeable?

The 25 Copilot licences are not, for the 30 days.

One optional feature is. Copilot Cowork can be switched on during the trial and is billed on usage rather than per seat, so it can generate charges while everything else costs nothing. If you want to try it, we set a budget, limit it to the trial group and keep an eye on it. Microsoft is clear that a budget helps manage spend but does not hard stop it.

If you would rather not think about it, we leave Cowork off.

Do we need to use all 25 places?

Microsoft fixes the trial at 25 places for 30 days, so the size and length are not adjustable. What you do choose is who gets them, and we help you decide that.

The 25 places are not a commitment to buy 25 paid licences afterwards.

What are the Copilot Success Planner and Work Smarter in 30?

These are two different things and both come from Microsoft.

The Copilot Success Planner runs before the trial starts. Your sponsor answers a few questions about your industry, priorities and how the team works, and it produces a personalised 30-day plan plus a roadmap for whoever is coordinating.

Work Smarter in 30 is the programme that runs during the month: a weekly email series taking people through Outlook, meetings, documents and then automation, with starter prompts for each.

Do we need a full Microsoft 365 readiness assessment first?

Not necessarily. We keep the start of the trial light and deal with anything obvious as we go.

If your environment needs broader permission, information-governance or security work before a larger rollout, we can deal with that separately.

What can Microsoft 365 Copilot see?

Copilot works within the Microsoft 365 access available to the person using it, so your existing Microsoft 365 permissions matter. Copilot does not automatically repair poor permissions or existing oversharing.

Does Microsoft use our Copilot prompts or business data to train its foundation models?

Microsoft states that prompts, responses and data accessed through Microsoft Graph in its protected enterprise experiences are not used to train foundation models.

What if we decide Copilot is not worth continuing?

Then stop. The purpose of the trial is to make a better decision, not to justify a purchase that has already been made.

Can we keep Copilot only for the people who found it useful?

Yes. The trial itself is fixed at 25 places, but the number that continues is not. Before the trial ends we set the renewal to the number of licences you actually want, so you could run 25 people through the month and continue with five.

We review the evidence with you and set that number together.

Can Inlight IT help if we find something that should be automated?

Yes. If the trial reveals a genuine process opportunity, Inlight IT can work across Microsoft 365, Power Automate, Power Apps, agents and related integration work.

We do not assume every trial should lead to an automation project.
