Microsoft is offering eligible businesses a 30-day Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial for up to 25 users, with no Copilot licence cost during the trial.

Build your 30-day Copilot pilot
You do not need to know exactly where Copilot will be useful before you start. Choose the teams and types of work you want to test, and the pilot builder will suggest how to use the available places.

What the pilot looks like
Choose the pilot group
Not the 25 most senior people, and not one from every department.
Choose people who spend a substantial part of their work in email, meetings, documents and analysis. The group should also include an internal sponsor who can keep the pilot moving.
Start with everyday Microsoft 365 work
Begin with Outlook, Teams and meetings, where people can test Copilot without changing the systems they already use.
Move into documents and analysis
Use Word, Excel and PowerPoint with material people already work on. This is where it becomes clearer which tasks repeat reliably and where the result still needs too much checking.
Review what happened
Look at use across the group, examples of completed work, feedback from participants and any permission or information issues that appeared.
Decide before the trial ends
Confirm who should continue, whether another group should be tested or whether a broader workflow deserves separate work.
What happens after the 30 days
Continue with what worked
Keep Copilot for the people and uses that proved worthwhile.
Test another group
Move the next test to a team or role that may benefit more.
Take a process further
If the trial reveals a recurring hand-off, approval or information problem, assess whether automation or an AI agent would handle it better.
Stop
If the evidence is not there, do not continue simply because the trial happened.
A useful trial can still end with “not yet”. It has done its job by giving you a clearer answer.
Copilot uses the access people already have

- OneDrive sharing
- External access
Microsoft 365 Copilot works within existing permissions. It can draw on anything a person can already open across Microsoft 365.
That is why external access, OneDrive sharing, Teams membership and SharePoint permissions matter. Copilot does not repair poor permissions or existing oversharing.
We flag anything obvious during the pilot. Broader information governance or permission work is handled separately if it is needed before a larger rollout.
Questions about the trial
What is Copilot in 30?
It is a partner-led Microsoft offer that gives an eligible business up to 25 Microsoft 365 Copilot Business trial licences for 30 days at no Copilot licence cost.
Who is eligible?
The offer is intended for eligible organisations using Microsoft 365 Business plans. We confirm the tenant, current licensing and Microsoft eligibility before the trial is activated.
Does the trial become paid automatically?
That depends on the renewal setting applied when the trial is created. We confirm the setting at the start and review it with you before Day 30 so you know exactly what will happen next.
Does the trial cost anything?
The Microsoft 365 Copilot trial licences are provided at no licence cost for the 30-day term. Your existing Microsoft 365 licensing continues separately.
Copilot Cowork is optional. It requires a Microsoft 365 Copilot user licence and then incurs additional usage-based charges through Copilot Credits. We leave it off unless you want to test it with an agreed group and budget.
Do all 25 users need to continue afterwards?
No. You decide how many licences to keep. You can trial Copilot with up to 25 people and continue only with the users who received enough value from it.
Do we need to fix every Microsoft 365 permission before starting?
No. Permissions matter, but the trial does not need to become a large information-governance project before it begins.
We address anything that could undermine the pilot and separate broader work from the trial.
Does Microsoft use our Copilot prompts or business data to train its foundation models?
No. Microsoft states that prompts, responses and information accessed through Microsoft Graph are not used to train foundation models.
What happens if people do not use it?
Stop or test a different group. The purpose of the trial is to make a better decision, not to justify licences that people will not use.
Can the trial lead to automation or an AI agent?
Yes. Copilot may reveal a recurring process involving several systems, approvals or follow-up steps. That opportunity can be assessed separately as business automation or AI agent deployment.
