Strengthen your IT team with co‑managed IT

We work alongside your internal IT team, sharing the daily workload, resolving complex problems and delivering projects. We take responsibility for day-to-day and technical work across Microsoft 365, infrastructure, networks and cybersecurity.

Together, we identify what needs attention first, what we will take on and how the two teams will work together.

Is it right for you

When would co‑managed IT help?

Internal teams usually bring us in when the work grows faster than the hours available to do it.

Improvement work keeps slipping

Day-to-day requests leave little time for maintenance, upgrades and the improvements the business is waiting on.

Problems cross several systems

Complex problems need expertise across identity, networks, cloud services and business applications at the same time.

Projects need more engineering capacity

Migrations, infrastructure upgrades and new sites need additional engineering and delivery capacity alongside day-to-day work.

The environment has grown

More sites, systems or security responsibilities have increased the workload on the same team.

Ways to work together

Which arrangement suits your business?

Shared operations

Share day-to-day operations

We take on user support, administration and ongoing management of the platforms and security services assigned to us, so your team has room for the work only it can do.

Senior escalation

Add senior engineers

We take on complex investigations, technical escalations, changes and coordination with other suppliers, so your team has specialist help on the problems that take time.

Project delivery can sit alongside either arrangement, and most clients shape a mix around their team. Where you want us to take broader responsibility for day-to-day IT, our Managed IT service provides that model.

Where we add depth

Bring in the expertise your team needs

Co-managed IT gives your team an ongoing engineering partner. We learn how your systems fit together, maintain the records needed to run them and work with your team on incidents, changes and projects.

Microsoft 365 and devices

We manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and device configuration. The work covers identity, access policies, endpoint management and licensing. Copilot implementation and administration are part of our service.

Infrastructure and networks

We work across Azure, servers, virtualisation, firewalls, Wi-Fi and site connectivity. We investigate faults across these systems and take technical escalations to carriers, platform vendors and application suppliers.

Cybersecurity and recovery

We operate security controls and coordinate investigation and response. Access, endpoint protection, patching, backup monitoring and restore testing have defined owners, with findings and follow-up work visible to your team.

Projects and automation

We design and deliver migrations, infrastructure upgrades, network changes and security improvements. We also build AI agents and Power Platform automation. Project handover includes the configuration records and knowledge needed to operate the result.

A clear division of work

Agree responsibilities before the service begins

We build the service around the work your team wants to retain and the responsibilities you want us to take on. We record the agreed split as a RACI at service and task level, so each task has a clear owner and both teams know who approves, who is consulted and who is kept informed.

Working together

Keep both teams informed as the work moves

01

Requests and escalation

We agree where requests enter, when they escalate and who stays responsible through resolution. An escalation carries the investigation already completed, relevant records and business impact so the receiving engineer can continue the work. Our service desk is integrated into Microsoft Teams, with requests tracked through your support portal, and we also work alongside existing ticketing systems.

02

Changes and documentation

The teams work from an agreed set of configuration records, diagrams and operating instructions. Changes include the approvals and communications required, and documentation is updated as part of the work. Your internal lead has visibility of the systems and services we manage.

03

Review and planning

We review recurring incidents, security findings, backup and recovery, supplier issues and upcoming lifecycle decisions together. Projects have a delivery plan and a handover into day-to-day management. Reviews end with actions, owners and dates that your team can follow.

Why Inlight IT

Why internal IT teams work with us

  1. 01

Specialists who follow an issue across systems

An application issue can involve identity, the network, a cloud service and a software vendor. We bring those disciplines together, investigate the cause and coordinate the work, so your team works through it with people who know each part.

  2. 02

Support extends beyond the service desk

Microsoft 365, cloud, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, backup and project delivery are all in-house, so your team can escalate to a specialist in each area through one provider.

  3. 03

    Microsoft 365 and Copilot capability

We manage the Microsoft environment your team relies on and implement and administer Copilot within it, including the identity, permissions, security and information controls around its use.

  4. 04

    Security alongside your team

Identity, endpoints, Microsoft 365 security, backup, monitoring and data protection are managed to the split you agree with us, with clear ownership of alerts and response.

  5. 05

Projects designed around how your IT runs

We deliver the projects ahead, from a Microsoft 365 change or a new site to an infrastructure upgrade or the automation of a business process. What we learn in day-to-day work shapes the design.

  6. 06

    Advanced tooling in everyday operations

Our service desk runs inside Microsoft Teams, and AI works across triage and monitoring, so issues are picked up early and handled faster. Your support portal, dashboards and live reports show what's happening across your IT, and we use them to agree priorities with you.

FAQ

Common questions about co-managed IT

What are co-managed IT services?

Co-managed IT is a shared service arrangement between your internal IT team and an external managed service provider. Your team retains agreed responsibilities, while we take on defined technical, operational or project work. Both teams use documented ownership and escalation arrangements.

Can our team keep handling day-to-day support?

Yes. Your team can remain the first contact for users, with Inlight IT handling complex escalations and other agreed responsibilities. We can also take on parts of the service desk. The arrangement follows how you want the teams to work together.

Can you work with our existing tools?

Yes. We review your ticketing, monitoring, documentation and Microsoft environment, then agree how the teams will use them. The service design identifies which tools are retained, how access is granted and how work is tracked between teams.

How are security responsibilities divided?

We assign ownership for the controls, monitoring and response activities in the service. That includes who receives alerts, investigates, approves changes and communicates during an incident. Your internal lead sees the work and the decisions that need business approval.

What happens when a project is completed?

We hand over the configuration, documentation, known issues and operational responsibilities. The project identifies any ongoing licensing, monitoring or maintenance it introduces, so the operational service can take over with the information it needs.

How is co-managed IT priced?

We price the operational responsibilities, service coverage and technical work you need. The proposal sets out the recurring service, project charges, licensing and any additional coverage. That lets you compare the cost with the work your internal team will continue to own.
