What this means in practice

Fortinet no longer provides support services for this model, and lapsed cover can’t be reinstated. If the unit fails, there’s no hardware replacement to claim, so the swap becomes an unplanned purchase and migration.

On 2 GB models like this one, newer FortiOS releases remove or restrict some proxy-based features, and the list varies by branch, so check the current release notes before upgrading.

Migration detail:
using SSL VPN?

On current FortiOS releases, SSL VPN tunnel mode has been replaced by IPsec VPN, and entry-level models including the 50G, 70G and 90G also have restrictions on agentless web-mode VPN. Fortinet recommends IPsec dial-up VPN for remote access.

We check the existing VPN configuration before the replacement is specified.
